You have decided to walk away from what does not satisfy you; you are heading toward something new. In your previous relationship or circumstances you regularly felt dissatisfaction and disappointment. You are aware of it now, too, and you are striving for change. You are trying with all your might to shed something old and to try something completely new. Perhaps you want to fill the emptiness that has entered your life. Right now is the time to free yourself from emotional ties and become independent. Very often this card says that only a month will pass and everything will change. Perhaps you will go on a journey or change your place of residence. Yet your main source of worry is family or material problems.

The Lord of Abandoned Success. Apathy, a quiet departure, withdrawal. Laziness, doing nothing, abandoning everything to fate.

Sometimes situations arise in which any change carries such serious consequences that a person chooses to stay put rather than take the risk.

Work

Dismissal in disgrace, retirement, moving to a worse job. Declining income. Abandoning an undertaking (giving up).

Health

A situation very dangerous to health and general well-being. Deep depressions. The desire to be rid of all problems at once, combined with an unwillingness to fight, can lead to suicide. This card, more than any other, predicts death (even for young people). Irreversible changes. The person will not recover, because they do not want to live or are already prepared to depart.

It can also depict an abandoned family in a very difficult situation.

Reversed Card Meaning

In the reversed position, this card advises you to leave the unsatisfying emotional situation and begin searching for what can fill your life with meaning. The card may be telling you that your current relationship is not at all what it seems to you. You should learn to value what you have at this moment, rather than casting it aside as unnecessary. Perhaps you find it hard to break off a relationship that is very rocky.
